60 Azerbaijani Teachers Involved in Qualification Training on Civic Participation

On 9-11 March 2012 teachers’ qualification training on civic participation took place in Baku, Azerbaijan. 60 Azerbaijani teachers from various rural areas of Azerbaijan were engaged in interactive training on modern methods of teaching civic participation. Training was conducted by invited civic education experts from Georgia.

Participating teachers learned identifying community problems and voicing them through joint efforts. They learned developing action plans and implementing community projects. Teachers were equipped with knowledge and skills on promoting the idea of civic participation together with their pupils. They were inspired with the idea that they can also take up the action, develop the projects and foster changes in their community. They came up with suggestions that democracy in practice should not be only present for 4 days simulation games in the framework of DSWY, but it should also reflect their daily teaching methods and value system.

At the end of the training the DSWY Intranet Service was introduced to all participants. They learned how to upload and share useful information to their colleagues.
