Teachers’ Training on Political Education and Civic Participation in Armenia

On 15-17 September 2011 60 teachers participated in a two-day training focused on “Political Education and Civic Participation” which was held in Tsakhkadzor, Armenia.
Participating teachers were given opportunity to learn more on real civic engagement and civic activism, as well as to see and practice participation and engagement.

Through Community in Action or we are the change concept the teachers learned how to identify their community problems, and how to address them through collective efforts, learned to develop action plan and implement community projects. They were equipped with knowledge and skills on being proactive, taking the action and enhance a participatory process with their example. Teachers were ready to take up practical examples of the problems of their community, promote the idea of participation together with their pupils and were quite inspired with the idea that they can take up the action, develop a project and bring change to their community. They realized as well that democracy should not be present in schools for just 4 days of simulation exercise, but it should be reflected in their life, in their teaching method, in their value system.

DSWY Intranet Service was presented to all participating teachers who were registered and have access to it.
